Rashid Khan Propels India forward
for the gold
The Indian team travelled from the ninth place to the third place in Asian Games Golf event overnight and thus jumped into the race for the gold medal. The event is being held at the Dragon Lake Golf Course and witnessed Rashid Khan pushing
the Indian side slowly to the top.
According to reports, Khan played a magnificent round of golf and carded a 68 to strengthen the Indian attacking line. The 4 under thus scored by Khan revived the men's individual as well as the team competition to anticipate the gold
medal once again.
The 19-year-old golfer’s game was regarded as the best game of the day as he rammed team India to jump from position number nine to number three at the leader board.
The golfer from India is known to hold the Faldo Series Asia victory in his hands who is striving for his status as a professional. The 19-year-old carded a brilliant 71 in the subpar first round of the event that made him a strong contender
for the first place medal in the individual standings.
According to Khan, his best asset has been his confidence in today's round. He said that his ball hitting, his drives, his putt, everything has been nearly perfect. The young golfer said that overall his team attained a 7 under which means
that the advice they gave to each other seemed to work. Khan told that after the round, the team mates gathered around and discussed how they played and what needs to be worked on.
“I think this is exactly why we perked up today” Khan said.
From S Shanthakumaran’s point of view, Khan knows how his mind works and is thus mentally strong. The team manger praised Khan’s performance and said that given Khan’s mental toughness, only he can keep South Korea from winning the gold
medal in the Individual standings. S Shanthakumaran also added the Filipino leader Miguel Luis Tabuena as a daunting hazard for the South Korean.
Khan was relentless with his ball at the Dragon Lake GC and carded 7 birdies in total. His birdie collection at the 10th hole, the 14th and the 15th made him travel
to the 3 under which was before he fell one stroke at the 17th hole.
His last birdie was at the last hole of the round where the Indian had attained a double bogey in the previous round.
