Former Pakistan Captain Rashid Latif will be coaching the new and fast emerging cricket team of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Afghanistan-c745. However, it won’t be his keeping which will form the centre of attention. Rashid has accepted the coaching offer from the Afghan Cricket Board and will be helping them in the batting department. Details of the contract are not finalized as yet but he will be coaching them for one year initially.
Rashid Latif was born on 14th October, 1968 in Karachi. Rashid’s first class career started in the 1986-87 season but he made his international debut in 1992 against England at the Oval. He was included in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 in 2003 in Rawalpindi.
 After his retirement from International cricket, he opened an academy in Karachi which was named as the Rashid Latif Cricket Academy for training young boys in the region. Rashid was one of the best wicketkeepers of his time and he opened the academy to pass on his knowledge to the young lads of Karachi. Graduates of his academy are excelling in Pakistan cricket due to the strong basic skills and techniques being taught to them by experienced coaches. Rashid Latif became the wicket-keeping coach at the National Cricket Academy at Lahore. Rashid, who has played 37 tests and 166 One-Day Internationals in his carrier, has ample knowledge of the game that he can pass on.
 Rashid Latif accepted the Afghan Cricket Club offer for becoming the national batting coach where minor formalities will be finalized on his trip to Jalalabad, Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a war torn country where cricket is a fast growing sport. Most of the Afghan players learned cricket after spending time in Pakistani refugee camps where they were living as refugees. 
 The Afghan side is a new emerging cricketing nation in the world. They were able to finish in the first six nations in the World Cricket League last year to won the ODI status. The team also featured in the third T20 World Cup being played in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Netherlands-c753 where it secured a third position finish.
Rashid’s first assignment will be the coming series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/China-c40996.
 Rashid Latif will be assisting head coach Kabir http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Khan-c71319 who is with the team for more than 2 years and groomed them as one unit. Rashid Latif is hopeful that he can further polish the skills of the Afghan side who are improving themselves with each passing day. The emergence of cricket in a war-torn country is a good for the people of Afghanistan who are deprived of any entertainment except for gun battles and airstrikes for the last 2 to 3 decades.
