http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rashid-Latif-c84084 rates Pakistan as favourites against England – Cricket News Update
Former Pakistan captain, Rashid Latif, has backed Pakistan to beat England in the upcoming Test series, and feels that the conditions on offer in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/United-Arab-Emirates-c3033 (UAE) are going to favour the Green Shirts.
The Test series between the two nations kicks-off in Dubai, on the 17th of January, 2012. England currently holds the top spot in the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625) Test rankings, but Pakistan has been performing well in the longer format
since the last year, and will provide a tough challenge to the visiting http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 team.
Despite the English being favourites in the clash, it will not be a walk in the park for them as the Men in Green are very formidable in full form.
However, speaking to Pakpassion, Latif expressed that the Green Shirts are going to have the upper hand in the series because of the playing conditions in UAE. They recently won a series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sri-Lanka-c758 at the same venue, followed by a series win against
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 in Bangladesh. The Pakistan team is familiar with the conditions on offer, and this could just edge it for them.
Latif said, "It's advantage http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755, no doubt about it. Pakistan can definitely win the Test series against England. The tracks will be batsman friendly and Pakistan have been playing on such tracks for the past two months in UAE and then in Bangladesh,
so are well drilled on playing on such surfaces."
However cricket pundits feel that the Pakistani bowlers will have their work cut out for them, and the UAE deck will help them against a formidable English line up.
The former wicketkeeper is confident that Pakistan possesses quality fast bowlers, and the spinning duo of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Abdur-Rehman-c41691 renders indispensible support.
"I have absolutely no doubt that the Pakistani bowling line up can take 20 English wickets in all of the upcoming Test matches. The experienced spin pairing of Saeed Ajmal and Abdur Rehman will hold the key and I expect them to cause plenty of problems for
the English batsmen", former captain added.
