Rasmus Bonde, Mads Conrad Petersen move forward to second round of 2012 Li Ning China Masters
Men’s Doubles partner Rasmus Bonde-Mads Conrad Petersen played with great control and took Denmark into the pre quarter-finals of Li Ning China Masters on Wednesday, September 12, 2012.
They outshined Tarun Kona-Arun Vishnu in a 58-minute encounter by registering the final figures of 18-21, 21-12 and 21-19.
However, it was not an easy win as they had to put an extra effort to save some honour after going down in the opening game.
The twosome of Tarun and Arun got into a commanding position by pocketing the first match point but luck was not on their side and they had to bid farewell to this prestigious Super Series.
Though, the Indian campaigners faced a woeful defeat but still they earned a great deal of respect for their commendable fighting spirit.
In the opening game, Tarun and Arun matched their rivals’ skills and proved their worth with an impressive knock.
They were a bit confused in the beginning but a couple of uninterrupted points after 7-8 boosted their confidence and they managed to finish the first half with a respectable score position of 11-10.
Latter part of the game was also dominated by the youngsters as they maintained a decent lead and placed a winning margin of 21-18.
The story was entirely different in very next game as the Danish campaigners employed all of their brilliance and experience to stay in the contest.
Rasmus Bonde and Conrad Petersen followed an effective counter-attack strategy and finished second set with a significant nine-point lead.
They made their intentions clear by putting 8-4 score in no time and then mounted pressure with 11-6 margin.
After the mid-game break, Tarun and Arun remained grounded until game point situation and surrendered after reading 12-21 score on the board.
However, they did not kneel down tamely in the third set and challenged their competitors’ supremacy throughout this nerve-racking contest.
The Indian shuttlers remained close on the points table until 15-15 but then the opposing team made the difference with three points in a row.
Rasmus Bonde and Conrad Petersen sealed their victory with 21-19 total and setup a pre quarter-final clash with Mohd Zakry Abdul Latif-Mohd Fairuzizuan Mohd Tazari of Malaysia.
