Rasmus Bonde, Mads Conrad Petersen secure pre quarter-final berth in 2012 Bitburger Badminton Open
Men’s Doubles experts Rasmus Bonde and Mads Conrad Petersen of Denmark showed impressive coordination and made their way into pre quarter-finals of Bitburger Badminton Open Grand Prix Gold on October 31, 2012.
They overpowered Joel Johansson Berg-Nico Ruponen by putting a favourable margin of 21-8 and 21-16 in a 28-minute tussle.
The Danish pair played impeccable badminton and kept their rivals under control all the way to the final moments.
They established their grip by clinching very first match point and then magnified the impact by claiming the second set.
On the other hand, the opposing team looked completely off colour as both Swedish campaigners failed to forge a fruitful chemistry in both games and bid farewell to this Grand Prix Gold event.
The battle heated up immediately in the beginning of first set as Rasmus Bonde-Conrad Petersen prevailed in seven rallies without any interruption and piled up a mountainous total of 7-1.
They carried this flow until half time and confined their competitors in the rear court by launching a flurry of power packed strokes.
At mid-game break, they were enjoying the upper hand with 11-4 margin and this lead played a vital role in third quarter of the set.
Though, Joel and Nico made every effort to come out of this deficit but they had to surrender after reading 8-21 score on the board.
The Swedish team showed good fighting spirit in the following game and their honest effort was applauded by the crowd but still that was not enough to avoid a straight-set defeat.
Rasmus Bonde and Conrad Petersen kept a low profile in the beginning of second set but they stunned their challengers by launching a brisk attack after 3-3 total.
They placed an indomitable figure of 11 before the announcement of one-minute break and widened the gap by adding few valuable points immediately after the interval.
The Danish players played according to the game plan and outclassed the opposing shuttlers in all areas of the game.
They locked the honour with an impressive figure of 21-16 and setup next clash with Andreas Heinz-Max Schwenger in second round of the tournament.
