Rasmus Fladberg crushes Michael Lahnsteiner in Men’s Singles first round of Finnish Open 2012
Denmark’s talented player Rasmus Fladberg displayed a spectacular show of his elite skills when he defeated Michael Lahnsteiner of Austria in Men’s Singles first round of Finnish Open 2012 in Finland, on Friday, March 30.
Rasmus, who was underdog in this opening round contest, proved his mettle against Lahnsteiner who was the eighth seed in Men’s Singles draw of the championship.
The Danish played inspiring badminton in the court and impressively won the contest in straights sets by working hard for 39 minutes.
On the other hand, Lahnsteiner could not produce his usual killing shots and failed to escape defeat from the hands of his in-form Danish rival.
Rasmus started to play attacking badminton from the opening rallies of first game and created a massive pressure on his higher ranked challenger.
In the meanwhile, Lahnsteiner played negative badminton and also remained struggling hard in taking the bird early from all areas of the court.
He failed to find a good flow against his Danish rival who was moving in all corners of the court quite smoothly.
Until the end of first half in the opening set, Rasmus was in strong position as he managed an impressive lead on the board.
After the break, Rasmus did not lose his focus at any stage in the game and remained successful in maintaining his impressive lead. He was fully focused and eventually won the opening set with a wonderful margin of 21-11.
In the second game, Lahnsteiner elevated his level of play by gearing up his speed in all corners. He took the bird early and executed strokes in the right areas. Until the break, he was close to his spirited Danish opponent.
After the interval, Rasmus tried to play fast badminton but failed to get advantage as his opponent was also in good control of rallies this time. Both shuttlers remained equal until the score reached at 21-21.
At this breath-taking stage, Rasmus controlled his nerves and managed to score two consecutive points to bag the game with a 23-21 score on the board.
Rasmus won this first-round contest in 39 minutes with a convincing margin of 21-11 and 23-21.
