Rasputin favourite for V. Keating Oil Ltd. Median Auction Maiden
Rasputin is rated favourite for the V. Keating Oil Ltd. Median Auction Maiden at Dundalk in Ireland on Friday, March 16, 2012. The winning horse will be awarded with a cash prize of €6,900.
A total of eight entries have been attracted towards the 1 mile long race, which will start at 6:30 GMT, and their names are: Penniston Line, Rasputin, Baffles Brains, Highwater Express, Crouching Harry, Majestic Timeline, Flashy Falcon and Mayhem Freddie.
Thomas Carmody’s trainee, Rasputin, has been impressive since making debut in the sport and will be chasing his maiden victory today. Overall, he has taken part in four events, but failed to finish on top in any of them.
However, the three-year-old colt has always challenged his opponents for race victories, which suggests that it is just a matter of time before he takes the top spot. He has never fallen out of top three, which is a very positive sign. He started off his
career with three consecutive third place finishes and followed that with a runner up spot in his most recent run.
The promising runner seems to have no problems with the racing conditions at Dundalk, as his last appearance was at the same venue, where he secured the second place. The punters will be placing maximum number of bets in his favour today.
Rasputin will be partnered by J. Murtagh, who is a decent runner and has won quite a few races at this level.
On the other hand, the bookmakers have also shown confidence in the abilities of Penniston Line, who will be making his debut in the sport today. He appears to be fit and ready to take on the rest of the participants at Dundalk.
However, the three-year-old gelding will be a touch nervous, as it will not be easy to dominate proceedings straight away. He will need to have a clear run in order to finish amongst the top three.
T. Stack’s trained runner will be ridden by W. M. Lordan, who is relatively new to the sport and will be looking to make a solid impression at Dundalk today.
Baffles Brains and Highwater Express are also decent runners and will have good chances of winning. However, the punters will definitely be risking more money on today’s favourite.
