Question:

Rat Cage cover? Hiding/keeping them quiet?

I'm moving into my first apartment next weekend, and my roommate is not keen on my rats. I'm going to have to keep them in my bedroom, and from previous experience I already know their constant movement at night is going to keep me up at night!

Also, my apartment complex isn't "pet friendly"

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good cover that might muffle their sounds at night and is also something I could throw over them if maintenance arrives?

Thanks!

  1. You might try sitting their cage in the closet at night (or if maintenance shows up)??? Mine never kept me awake when they were in my bedroom, but they can definitely get loud. You might also consider a different roommate in a different apartment complex! What happens if maintenance shows up one day when you aren't there to hide them? Are you going to get rid of them or move?? Anything you throw over them, I promise they will pull through the cage and chew it up! Good luck!

  2. you must not be a very heavy sleeper. i keep my 2 rats in my bedroom, and as soon as the tv goes off they start charging about, it doesnt keep me awake. maybe you could trying putting a blanket over their cage, but they will chew it

  3. You don't need rats... send them to me. I have 3 spoiled rotten princesses.

Seriously, maybe a blanket of some sort that you don't plan to use ever again, because they WILL try pulling it into the cage, and you have to watch that it doesn't have any loose threads, strings, and ect. because they can swallow it and it can get stuck in their digestive tract, causing a very big vet bill.

Try to get used to it, they can't be VERY noisy.

    Hope I helped!
