How do I tell what kind of rats I have, I think one may be a dumbo, but they are both very young still and females if that makes a difference, but is there anyway to tell if they dumbos or what? Does anyone know of a good site or can they tell me how to tell what kind of rats they are.

  2. Breed does not indicate size when mature in Rats. The ears are lower and larger in dumbos.

  3. If they are dumbos they will have ears on the side of there head more than on top.

  4. There aren't different rat breeds, only different types. All pet rats are fancy rats, regardless of colors, markings, or ear types.

Dumbo rats have larger, lower set ears while standard eared rats have smaller ears that are further up on the head.

Dumbo rats will not get any bigger than standard eared rats, the only difference between the two is the ears.

  5. Go to www.evergreenrattery.com and click on variety's

  6. Lol there are no breeds, just types

All rats grow to  "Jumbo size"

Its just a term used to separate rats in petstores

  7. No matter what age a dumbo rat will have unusually large ears. Most rats in the petstores are "fancy" rats but some will have dumbos and siamese and whatnot. You probably have the "fancy" rat. Either way, the rats were an excellent choice :)
