Rat help:(?

i have had my rat for about 5 years and he has a big tumer and he will not eat or drink he is skinny and is bleding from the eyes i fell so bad what can i do for him and what coud this be from :(

That's quite a long lifespan for a rat..

I'm sorry he's doing badly now. :( Your best bet is to just take him to the vet. There may be nothing they can do for him, and if he's in pain they may put him down. I'm sorry about your rattie, but remember the fun you had, and he was lucky to have such a long life. <3

i think you should take him to the vet and im sorry to say this, but you might have to have him put to sleep. and well done for keeping him alive for so long

You need to get him to the vet as quickly as possible.  The tumor could be causing him pain and it sounds as if it has effected him quite a bit.  The bleeding isn't blood.  This is polyphorin which all rats produce, but when produced in excess this can indicate a upper respiratory problem which rats are quite prone to.  You will need antibiotics prescribed by a vet for this.

Please take him in immediately.  He's quite an elderly rat, but certainly not worth giving up on.  =)  The vet can give you all your options and help to steer you towards an educated decision.

Right...you've probably mis calculated as it's pretty rare for a rat to hit 4 so 5 is a bit far fetched.

What did the vet say about his TUMOUR? Benign or malignant? Does s/he refuse to operate and remove the tumour because your rat is elderly

Your rat is probably not bleeding from the eyes, rather it is porphyrin. Your rat is ill and stressed. Feed him high calorie soft food and make sure he gets plenty of water. When you take him back to the vets get a small syringe and give him a tiny tiny bit at a time not too much or you will choke/drown him.

A rats lifespan is generally 3-5 years - and bleeding from the eyes sounds pretty serious.  I would advise consulting with a vet and probably contemplate having him put down :(

i don't know what caused it but i have a rat and that hasn't happened to her.either put him down at the vet or go to the vet and find out what happened.

Please tell me you took him toa vet?  If not that is what you need to do asap!  But I think it may have to be put down if they cant do anything about the tumor.  Im sorry about your rat, but he did live a long life.
