Ratchanok Intanon topples Xin (F) Liu in Women’s Singles round-of-16 at Li Ning China Open 2012
Thailand’s top shuttler Ratchanok Intanon showed a staggering performance in the arena and stormed into Women’s Singles quarter-final after showing exit to her local challenger Xin (F) Liu in round-of-16 match at Li Ning China Open 2012 on Thursday, November
15, in Shanghai.
The impressive Ratchanok, who is currently World Number 10 in Women’s Singles category, showed a great character in the arena as she played with an amazing precision and overpowered her in 42 minutes.
Ratchanok did not spare any mercy to her Chinese rival who was having the support of local crowd. The Thai lady emerged as the winner in this battle by winding it up in straight games with a striking lead.
On the contrary, Liu could not play positive badminton when it mattered most and bowed down to her Thai challenger without even putting up strong show in the arena.
In the first set, the in-form Ratchanok played with superb control in her shots and managed to control the affairs from starting points.
Ratchanok did not let the pace of rallies down and managed to stay ahead of her local opponent until the end of opening half when she was in strong position.
After the break, the impressive Ratchanok did not show any sign of slowing down her speed and remained in ahead without facing any considerable opposition.
The Thai lady remained focused on court all the way to claim the opening game with a reasonable 21-19 score on the board.
In the second game of this clash, the confused Liu was once again in problem as she could not put up strong show and also failed to stop the progress of Ratchanok who was sailing smoothly.
Until the one-minute interval, the higher ranked Thai shutter stayed far ahead on score board by playing with impressive speed.
After the mid-game interval, the incredible Ratchanok continued her dominating run in the arena and she easily clinched the game with a superb 21-13 score on the board.
The lofty Ratchanok ended up this pre-quarter-final clash in straight games of 42 minutes by a reasonable margin of 21-19 and 21-13.
