Rate my Photos?

I'm entering this photo competition and I;ve narrowed my photos down to two. Just deicded which one you like better

There Both Beautiful photos.  either would do fine!  I'm a armature photographer.  and I'm told i do very well,  but. i love the first one for some reason (:

The first ones nice, but there isn't alot of detail. It would have been a lot nicer if the branches weren't so dark/black. But I do like the second one more, the only thing I would do is brighten up and make it a little more cheerful using Photoshop (if thats allowed). Take my opinion as simply a viewer, I can't take better pictures than that :)

I am a serious amateur photographer and have entered a lot of contests and have seen the results of a lot of contests... your photos are good, but unfortunately they won't win any prize... The sun and trees photo is too dark... if you do any photo editing, they I suggest lightening up the foreground to get some detail in the leaves and branches.

The clouds don't really have any particular focus... the sun behind one of the clouds giving it an outline would make for a better shot. Unfortunately clouds don't win photo contests.

For your info... I like to shoot the sun  through the trees and clouds...

Keep shooting, look with a critical eye... if you shoot for fun and your own enjoyment of your photos... who cares what anyone else thinks...

If you want to shoot to win contests, or sell stock photos, start looking at the photos in magazines (any kind) and see what makes them work... subscribe to a photo mag, or visit the website... you will get lots of hints about how to improve your photos...

I like both, but the 2 one looks plain and without much color, even tho i like it.

But, I like the 1st one, it seems like i am there
