i have fake plants, a sandy bottom, rocks, and a built in filter. i also have a moore goldfish, a fantail goldfish (i think its a fantail), and a shubunkin goldfish. The moore is almost 3 inches, the fantail is about 1 inch, and the shubinken is about 1.5 inches. The temp is 79 degrees, (i plan on changing that soon) and i believe its a 30 gallon tall tank. Anything i can improve on?

  1. An algae eater might be a good thing to get. Just make sure he's about the same size if not bigger than the other fish or they will pick on him and kill it. Oh and make sure you get something that it can go in to hide.

  2. first off let me say that you have a very nice looking tank there.

i really dont see a problem with you adding 1 or 2 little fish. also i cant see the bottom of your tank so i am just speculating but you might want to add a little more gravel.

If you want to kick it up a notch add better lights and put some real plants in there. other than that your tank looks great!

  3. right i would say u can add 2 more cold water fish to your tank like goldfish for a 30 gallon tank to give your other fish company 3 fish for a 30 gallon tank is wasteing space in my opiniun

what are you doing with your cory`s where in the world are you im in uk/england

  4. Your tank looks more like a 20 gallon, you shouldn't put any other fish in it. If you want...upgrade to a 35-55.....you'll be able to have more buddies....as for your Corie's, send them my way, I have room for more in my 55!!!

  5. The shubunkin will get quite large but since it's only a couple inches right now, you're good for the time being. We're keeping our 5" shubunkin in our 29 gallon with our 3 fancies. But we're getting a 75 gallon wave-front by next year.

I think it looks fantastic. I really like the setup and yeah, just lower the temp a bit to around 72-74 degrees. I've heard they like it lower but my fish get less active anywhere below or above that range. They are at their best between that.

I like the sandy bottom in it- I haven't seen many of those except for in salt water setups.

I'm not sure what other fish or animals to add. No plecos or Chinese Algae Eaters as they turn aggressive and your fancy goldfish are too slow to escape them [the plecos and CAEs will suck on their sides, causing serious injury] but I've heard of some other algae eaters to add. Either that or trapdoor or apple snails, but they can be large.

  6. If it's a 30 gallon tank then you're probably alright for now but you'll need to upgrade as they grow a bit more.  Goldfish are coldwater fish and prefer temperatures in the high 60's not 79F.  There really aren't any other things to add because there isn't much that can live in cold water and with goldfish except white cloud minnows or a weather loach.

Your tank is already overstocked so more fish of any kind would be a problem.
