Question

Doctor Dave had slept with one of his patients and had felt guilty all day long. No matter how much he tried to forget about it, he couldn't. The guilt and sense of betrayal was overwhelming.

But every once in a while he'd hear that soothing voice, within himself, trying to reassure him:

"Dave, don't worry about it. You aren't the first doctor to sleep with one of their patients and you won't be the last. And you're single. Let it go......"

But invariably the other voice would bring him back to reality: "Dave, you're a vet..."

Its funny but it would be a little funnier like this:

Dr Dave had slept with one of his patients and had felt guilty all day long. No matter how much he tried to forget about it, he couldn't. The guilt and sense of betrayal was overwhelming. Had it been a mistake?

He was feeling quite tense over lunch, and couldn't bring himself it eat, so he decided to ring up one of his old friends from med school:

"Dave, don't worry about it." He said "You aren't the first practitioner to sleep with one of their patients and you won't be the last. And you're single. Let it go, man......"

his friend said.

He felt a little bit better but then his flatmate rang to ask him to pick up some takeout on the way home. Unable to hide his guilt, Dave told him, too, of the shameful act. "Dave," he said, "I was pretty sure that you left medicine to become a VET?"

Dragging it out more makes it funnier?
