  1. You should only have about 18-20 lands max for an elf deck.  Elves are fast and they create their own mana.

Llanowar Elves are a must for elf decks.  And if you can get your hands on them, Priest of Titania is the God of Elf decks.  They are commons from Urza's Saga but it's not easy to get.  It's not hard, but it's also not easy.

Overruns are a nice surprise for elf decks.  It turns your 1/1's into 4/4 tramplers.

You don't need Gloomwidow's Feast.  It's just taking up space.

I have a elf deck that's really fast but some of the cards may be harder for you to get.  It's a casual deck and can make 26 4/4 tramplers on turn 4 and a 200+ point Fireball to follow, just in case.

As for getting lands, just ask around when you meet other players, they should have more than enough basic lands to give out.  If they ask for a trade or ask you to buy the lands off of them, then they are just jerks and you should ask someone else.  Most people who have been playing for a while will be willing to give you tips and most would be willing to give you basic lands.  I have tons of lands that I would be willing to give you, but I just don't want to pay for the shipping up there.

If you want anymore tips or have any more questions, feel free to ask me.  I am always willing to help out a new player.  Enjoy the game.

Note:  Do not, under any circumstance, give your address out freely over questions like this.  It's just going to be bad.  You can give it out to people in an email but not openly like this.

  2. Nice attempt at a first deck. However, the deck suffers from a few faults. Firstly, it is way too slow to compete even with some of the slower decks, such as Doran or the mid-range Elf Rock. Secondly, your deck will die to flying creatures. Even though it has Gloomwidow’s Feast, that one card is not enough to fight a whole deck of fliers, such as Faeries. Fix this with Raking Canopy, a enchantment that costs 1GG that deals 4 damage to each flying creature that attacks you. It will fit right in with your deck.  You also need some of the better elves, such as Wren’s Run Vanquisher and Imperious Perfect, so head over to the local store and start opening Lorwyn packs.

As for the basic land thing, I will send them. They are on their way. Just promise that in the future, you will extend the same favor to someone else, and never post your address online again.

    Hope that helped!
