  11. #1- Lewis Became better as he got older. great size & jab

#2 Holyfield- Great warrior, hope he hangs them up!

#3 Tyson - great puncher, waisted his potential

#4 Bowe - An engima, talented but inconsistent especially in motivation.

  12. lewis tyson holyfiled bowe

  13. Tyson and Lewis are very close, but you didn't ask for ties.

Lewis beat both Bowe (in the amateurs) and Holyfield.  Bowe refused to fight Lewis as a pro (he even gave up one of his “championship” belts to avoid Lennox), so he can’t rate himself above Lewis.  Bowe beat Holyfield two out of three.   So that makes it Lewis-Bowe-Holyfield, so far.

Tyson’s prison time did to him what Ali’s suspension did to him.  Several pundits pointed out early in each of the two fighters’ careers that Mike’s style took a LOT of energy and Ali’s practice of snapping his head back to avoid punches took GREAT reflexes.  Age would be the enemy of both styles and neither fighter would be in his “prime” for long.  That proved to be the case.

IMO, the Tyson that destroyed Berbick and Spinks would have done the same to Bowe and Holyfield.  Mike was great at avoiding an opponent’s punches as he moved in.  By the time he fought Holyfield he was spent.  I remember one commentator saying (pre-fight) that Holyfield’s only chance was to “make Tyson pay to get inside and then tie him up.”  That’s exactly what happened.  I will never forget Tyson eating all those punches as he plodded forward and then getting wrapped up on the inside.  That would not have happened to the “prime time” Tyson.

Tyson-Lewis is a closer call, but Mike was better at getting inside than either Rahman or McCall and he was a much harder hitter.  If I had to bet, I would bet on Tyson.

  14. I RATE THEM THE WAY YOU LISTED THEM, TYSON, HOLYFIELD, LEWIS, BOWE.
