This all depends on how ambitious you are, your aptitude for something more intricate and your other work experience. Add to this some intelligence and the register job may be boring. However, it is a job. It pays a wage. It helps you to meet all kinds of people which will stand you in good stead in later years.  It improves dexterity, develops hand/eye coordination and promotes accuracy. Could be boring if no customers come through. What's to hate?
