  1. You hit the right spot.

Man has to share this planet with a million other species, thousands of them Mammalians. He should confine himself to lesser space leaving them vast areas. Or else he should go live amongst them in a symbiotic relationship, where they don't feel your intrusion into their realm. But look at the way he has appropriated all the 150 million sq.km for himself.

In years to come this will emerge as the main global issue. Only then he will become wise (not exactly, he will view it as a problem to tackle not aware of the origin). Only the oceans (but for some pollution) are nearly free from his predatory activities, today.

  2. How are you going to regulate land development more than it is

Millions of acres of federal land are set aside for the animals in America alone

Millions of acres of state land is set aside

Millions of acres of private land is leased by the state and set aside plus the private land being leased to individuals and clubs and the landowners that are using their land for private hunt camps

    What else do you propose?

    Here's the kicker

How are you proposing to pay for that land?

The money being used now comes from hunters and sportsmen and gun owners in general

The millions of dollars in taxes paid for hunting licenses and taxes on hunting goods and supplies and ammo go to pay for that land

    How much have you donated?

How have you raised money for the cause?

Predators have been reintroduced and the effect was that they cause even more devastation to the prey/game animals

They conflict with man in the form of being a threat and by killing livestock

I for one would very much prefer to be shot and killed than to be eaten alive

I have watched predator work, it ain't pretty

unless if you like the sound of an animal screaming in agony as it's ripped to shreds

Perhaps  you should actually do some research on the subject your sermons are based on

    ==========================

Obviously you have not done much research if you think that mountain lions are the only predator or if you think that they always kill their prey before eating

The prey is edible after incapacitation

And yes I have see predators actually in action in the wild not on TV and not just the aftermath

I have actually heard the screaming and seen the shredding in real time in real life

And how typically arrogant of you to assume that you have donated more than I make

  3. This would be a wonderful idea IF it worked. It will never happen however..too many greedy developers that don't give a c**p about the environment or animals....only money matters to them.

  4. Maybe the deer are behind the rise in gasoline prices.

  5. Absent predators, controlling land development won't make much difference - it just slightly changes how soon deer overpopulate.  Reintroducing predators would solve deer overpopulation, but there you do run into problems with land development.  People have encroached on what used to be wilderness.  They tend to object to wolves or mountain lions eating their pets, children, or livestock - even if the predators were there first (much as people move next to airports and then complain about the noise).

  6. I have seen how a predator kills a deer. It started eating from the tail while the deer was still alive. We had to shoot the deer.

Which way would you prefer to die?

I am not a hunter, but it shouldn't be banned. Deer population is doing fine in the existing wilderness areas. You should see how much of the country is not developed. You would really be surprised.

As for controlling land development, You own a piece of land. you want to give a piece to each your kids to build a home on. Oh, You can't. The government is controlling development and you are not allowed to build. Your land is virtually worthless, but you still have to pay taxes on it. Isn't the government great.

"When I become president, I will fix that."

  7. I agree with you, 100%!

  8. Controlling land development isn't going to help. You could stop building but the deer are going to keep reproducing. Eventually there would be too many deer for their habitat to support resulting in starvation. Deer are creatures of habit and generally stay in their own areas. If you brought predators into their habitat to control them you would run the risk of them killing the deer but not eating them, much like the grizzlies with the salmon. All the while the predators are reproducing as well. Once the deer start to run sort, the predators are going to start going after other animals and so forth and so on until they start going after people. While hunting may seem cruel, it's the only humane way to deal with them. Getting chewed on till death or getting hit by vehicles, or starving isn't very pleasant. Birth control is an option, but if you were to do that, you could wipe out a species in a particular area disrupting the whole order of nature.
