Do you think Obama has done enough to get more independent and other voters? Personally I thought he had a strong structure but his conclusion was not strong as evidenced by the weak reception.

  1. Romping around the world didn't gain him to many points, his convention didn't bring him to many points, and the polls shows him slipping every day so I don't think this speech is going to impress anyone either. Gee, the guy can't even write his own material!!

  2. Exceptional speech, I didn't think he could pull off a 42 minute speech without getting boring but he did and he sealed it with his conversational tone and wanting to change Washington(good luck) and getting common ground (good luck on that too) I hope he gets elected and truly gets to change Washington  because we need it desperately.

  3. He scored big.

  4. I know his speech had to strike home with many people.  The debates will seal his election.

  5. He bores and irritates me...he is ineffectual...proof of that is how he allows people to run all over him...like the Clintons...

  6. Same rhetoric - different night

I still haven't heard what his "change" is -- except for higher taxes

    I'll pass

  7. He did a great job

  8. He did so well that he actually converted a couple of Republicans I know tonight!

  9. The one thing about Independent voters is that they use their brain.

I consider myself independent (lean slightly more to the conservative side).

The speech did nothing for me.  I thought it was a good speech, but I also work in marketing so I know the thing is canned.  Guess that takes some of the emotion out of it.

The debates will tell me a lot more about him and his experience.  I think it will be like a big talker just starting work and thinking he/she already knows everything.  Anyone who has worked, knows the type.

It will be fun to see.

  10. If Obama did not speak to you as an American, and move you re- think what is still possible. You were not paying attention.  Best speech I've heard in my half century on the rock. Historical.

  11. "weak reception"?

    You've got to be kidding.

He got a MONSTER reception. Even right wing ideologues like Pat Buchanan are saying it was a tremendous speech.

So far the reps. can only respond by repeating some of the lies they've been spewing out, even though they've repeatedly been disproven.

Obama/Biden - Take back the White House, take back our government, and SAVE the CONSTITUTION!

  12. I think it was one of the greatest speeches of the 21st century. He's making history. The idea of having all those people come to his nomination in a football stadium was a great idea to draw people from all over to see this monumental moment in time.

A lot of the republicans would have you believe it was a celebrity speech and not a political speech but just because he is thinking out side of the box and is able to get all those supporters doesn’t mean he's just some celebrity. It shows his innovativeness and this willingness to connect with people on a whole new level.

It's a clear decision for me I’m voting for Oboma not because he is a charismatic or as some see has celebrity support. I'm voting for Oboma because I think he's smart, innovative, has high dreams that are reachable for every American.

  13. It was good, it was basically what american's want to hear at this point, but can he actually seal the deal once he is president, that's the question.

  14. He did and said all the right things that i believe all Americans wanted to hear not just the dems..He even had republican campaign leaders saying that they are "glad that they dont have to contend with Obama".. (former campaign chairman for Romney..said on CNN)

which leads me to a side bar note...Romney is not the VP for McCain..he has chosen Pawlenty

  15. haha..

i was sleeping, and all of a sudden i hear this big booming voice in the house and like thousands of people cheering, and i nearly shat in my pants.. and then i got up and my mom was jumping up and down in front of the tv while he was giving his speech. (:

    but anyway...

i think people really liked it, and yea. he will get a lot more voters from that speech. i personally think it was amazing. i got chills. (:

  16. 2 out of 10

  17. Senator Obama is a great extemporaneous speaker.  It has been a long, long, long, long  time since I have heard an inspirational political speech by a President or a Presidential candidate.   I hope that when/if he is elected that Congress is supportive of change.  A visionary president with the same old faces in Congress is useless.
