  1. i look for service and attitude as i enter. first impressions make or break it. smell. if it smells 'fatty' as in old then forget it. clean no dust ,dirty benches, chairs  or tables, if the staff are talking and there are dirty tables you can bet they will be slow doing there job. food presented is what you ask for  and how you want it  ,eg steak cooked correctly.  my biggest marking point would be the dressage of the staff. dont eat there if they have short waisted tops and they wear navel rings . i had a girl in a bakery about to make me a sandwhich and her belly ,and navel ring ,was sitting on the bread  board, i said to her forget it,. dind't go there again.also their body language ,as in hands in their hair  or wiping their face or scratching their nose . forget it go ,somewhwre else and tell the manager on the way out why you wont eat there.

  8. I would really say what made you go into the restaurant in the first place. For example,  i live in hong kong and tourists always look for the local streetside cuisine. Service at those roadside restaurants is c**p, but because tourists arent looking for world class tourism, but instead the (good) local food and ambience, they may enjoy the overall dining, if you may call that, experience. so it really, on top of it all it really depends on the context of choosing a restaurant.
