Manager Andre Villas-Boas fielder a strong starting eleven in the FA cup tie against Portsmouth. Juan Mata and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ramires-c30523 brace to send the Blues through.
Bettor.com rates the players who took to the pitch.
Peter Cech – 6
Had an untroubled outing in the goal for the home side. Made a good stop on Futacs while commanding his area well. Made decent saves throughout the game.
Jose Bosingwa - 6
His defensive abilities – not his strength, clearly - weren’t put to test and he made regular forays forward. However, against an opposition with far inferior quality, he ought to have done more.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Luiz-c10542 – 6
The technical ability is there for all to see – he’s Brazilian after all – but the mental side of his game still needs to be polished. Almost cost http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 a goal by dwelling on the ball, but Terry came to his rescue
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/John-Terry-c18895 - 7
Had Futacs in his pocket for most of the evening. Distributed the ball exceptionally well and took one for the team when he collided with the post while making a goal line clearance. Slowly rediscovering his best form is John Terry.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809 – 6.5
Cole hasn’t been his usual self of late, often playing wayward passes and letting wingers skip past him. However, he has improved in his most recent outings. Was a constant threat moving forward and kept his side of the field under check.
Ramires - 8
The Brazilian has slowly turned into a fan favourite. His shooting can still do with some improvement and it was his heart that won him a brace. Ran, ran and then ran some more. Yet another tireless display that has become his hallmark.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-Meireles-c30678 – 7
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 midfielder played well on the night, keeping it simple and opting to play short passes more often than not. However, he will have to do much more if he is to cement a starting XI spot.
