Question:

Rationing?

Yesterday I sent Cuthbertson down to the village store to procure some essential supplies, gin, tonic, cigars and the Times. On his eventual return he told me that the old duffer in the shop said we have not got the appropriate ration coupons. I know Little Boffington -on-Sea is a back water, but dammit all, rationing finished in the 50’s, didn’t it? So I retired to the attic and found some coupons and an old £1 note, on returning to the shop, Cuthbertson was charged 2/6d. for 1 bottle of Sir Robert Burnetts, 2 tonics and 25 cigars. Er…..does anyone happen to have any coupons left over from the 50’s I could have?
