My current rat ,Roxy, is about 3 months old and my new rat ,Stitches, is about 2 and a half months old. When i let them go together they get along for the first few minutes and then they fight. There always on me so i break them apart, what should i do? Let them fight and see if they can work it out? I just don't want them to hurt eachother so i'm scared to let them fight. My second question is i put them together today and they weren't fighting but then Roxy started flicking her ears. It looked like she was shivering but only her ears. What's with that?

  1. what you are experiencing is completely normal, rats love to play fight and have what looks like little boxing matches but 9 times out of 10 they are just playing even if they squeak (thats how they communicate to eachother) unless there is blood then i wouldnt worry, they are just trying to assert their dominance and trying to work out whos the "boss"

i have 9 rats and when they start playing i tell you what it sounds like they are killing eachother and i will admit if your not used to it it can be scary (especially when they do it in the night and frighten the life out of you!!) but when i go in to them theres usually 1 on her back feet in the air with another one on top and they stop and look at me as if to say "what" then they carry on again! lol

so like i said unless theres blood i wouldnt worry its normal
