Rattle sound from rear, 96 Escort - Wheel baring, maybe? =/

Ok... Does this sound like a wheel baring, or something different.. When driving down the road, it makes a rattle sound with vibration coming from the driver's side (rear, I think)...

It's a 1996 Ford Escort that I test drove and am thinking buying (cheap). I am just trying to get an idea of what could be wrong, and get an idea of how much it would be to fix it.

  1. Loose or Broken shock or Spring Mounts, Broken Shackle Bolts, Loose Tank Mounts, Etc.

  2. A bearing will not rattle. It will sound like a deep humming noise and change as weight it shifted on vehicle.

Viberation and rattle could be a loose wheel.

May have 2 different concerns also.A out of balance tire/wheel,bent.

A loose rear shock mount or bushing wore allowing metal to contact metal and may be something loose in the brake system. Go no further till this is checked out good and make sure it is safe.

Hope this helps and have a great evening.
