Raubenheimer Dylan emerges as the new champion in South African amateur golf
With Dylan Raubenheimer making a tremendous start of his golf career, he was able to shatter the dreams of many by winning the Stroke Play Qualifier at Sanlam South African Amateur Championship, on Monday.
However, apart from lifting the trophy, Dylan said that it was necessary for him to win to fulfil his father’s desire.
The 16-year-old golfer is now looking forward to continuing his winning streak by securing victory at the upcoming Sanlam SA Amateur.
This time, he intends to dedicate his award to his favourite golf player, Ernie Els. The young golfer from Western Cape will be departing for Florida next week to make his presence mandatory in the event.
Dylan intends to accompany other members of Fancourt Foundation to spend an entire week teeing it off with his inspiration in golf.
"I would like nothing better than to get on that flight with the Sanlam SA Amateur trophy on my lap," he said.
In addition to this, Dylan has already promised his father to give him the most wonderful present for his 50th birthday.
"I told my dad I would give him a 50th birthday present he would never forget," said Raubenheimer. He further added that his father has always been a constant support for him and his game.
He has always supported him unconditionally. Dylan has already secured victory at the Mini Masters back in 2011 by scoring rounds of 66 and 71 respectively.
This provided him with the rudimentary idea about the strategy and procedure he needs to follow in order to maintain his momentum when present on the golf course.
However, it is important to mention that his competitors are continuously on the rise. Out of all others, Scotland’s Brian Soutar has been his close contender.
Even though he tied for the third place in the event, he was still able to fire 68 in a flawless manner.
The upcoming events will provide both these golfers with the opportunity of teeing it off together.
According to experts, Dylan has a long way to go. He is currently in the learning phase and the best thing about him is that he is ready to learn and grasp new lessons from every event that he participates in.
