Los Parakeets youth academy graduate reassured disgruntled fans that they will move out of relegation slots in the coming days.
Start of 2012/13 La Liga campaign has been tough on Espanyol team and their fans. The lesser known Catalan club are languishing in 20th place, failing to record a win after seven league outings.
Los Parakeets have amassed a dismal run of from in Spanish top flight football season, accumulating five defeats and two draws. Their two total points tally is a poor reading for the faithful, who had hoped the club would improve on their penultimate season’s
performances in the current term.

He acknowledged that they have been poor so far this campaign but believes his team can climb off the relegation slots in the coming
weeks.
“I feel good. I’ve had a good response and I’m eager to help the team,” Baena said while talking to Mundo Deportivo.
Baena admitted that Los Parakeets find themselves in a difficult situation, but believes the dressing room is united and they will carve their way for a fix.
“It’s a difficult situation and I’m sure we’ll come through it because this team has shown it has a lot of things going for it.”
“The dressing room is united and committed so we are keen to beat Rayo Vallecano in our next game to bring our supporters some joy.”
Baena own form has not been a sight for the weak hearted, as he has yet to feature in Espanyol’s fixtures ever since he fractured a metatarsal bone is his left foot in a club friendly.
He recently returned to training with the first team and is optimistic about his chances. Looking forward to his chances, the 23-year-old chimed in with the following statement: “I’ve spent a nervous time watching and the only thing I was able to do was
support the team, but I think we should have more points than we have.”
Following the international break, Espanyol welcome Rayo Vallecano at the Cornella-El Prat on October 21.
