Raul Carrillo to headline Saturday night Warriors Conquest show against Josh Torres – Boxing News
Raul Carrillo, the surging Mexican welterweight proud, will try to make a comeback on win track by taking on an equally talented pugilist, Josh Torres, in a six-round bout to be held on June 30, 2012.
The duo will headline the pay-per-view dubbed as ‘Ready for War-Warriors Conquest’. The fight card is being jointly organised and promoted by Zeferino Ramirez of Z Entertainment, EL Muneco and Ghost Town Promotions.
The ring for Saturday night showdown will be set up at Boulder County Fairgrounds, Longmont, Colorado, United States and will witness Daniel Calzada take on Ronnie Reams in a non-title four-round bout constituting the co-main event.
Raul recently gave a detailed interview and put forth his thoughts about the upcoming opponent and his last unsuccessful clash with Robert Frankel. Carrillo, also known as ‘El Chino’, was of the view that he is looking forward to end the bout with Josh in
just the early rounds adding that it will not be a war.
The young Mexican further added that Torres will not try to take him on toe-to-toe adding that he will adopt the defensive stance instantly after realising the power of my jabs.
Raul stated, “I don’t see it as a war. I know he is known as the “pit bull” but we believe once he feels my power he will go back to counter punching and trying to survive. If he goes toe to toe with me, I welcome that kind of fight but he will pay the price
for fighting that way.”
When asked as to what he thinks about his last battle with Robert, the Mexican commented that he learned a lot from that bout adding that the most important lesson of all was how to counter a 10-round bout and what strategy should be implemented.
Despite collecting a lose in his very first title bout, Carrillo, remarked that he is not stressed at all about the loss as it taught him the lesson of saving the energy in bouts with 10 or 10-plus rounds.
Raul stated, “I learned more in that fight than my previous fights combined. I learned that there is another dimension to boxing. That fight taught me that that I can fight 10 rounds, which I can compete at a higher level. We had to save our energy to go
the 10 rounds.”
Raul and Josh, both pugilists exhibit similar resumes as the duo has collided with 10 men each. Raul boasts nine wins, six via knockout whereas Josh has collected seven wins, just four via knockout.
Raul will enter the ring with an upper hand in knockout ability and therefore, as the bout is a six-round short skirmish, will opt the aggressive stance.
