The former Real Madrid striker has confirmed that he will leave the Veltins-Arena outfit at the end of this season.
Raul Gonzalez has revealed that he will be leaving Schalke by the end of this season. He was talking ahead of his side’s clash against FC Augsburg on Sunday, April 22, at the SGL arena. The striker admitted that it was an extremely
difficult decision for him to part ways with the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Royal-95-c40387 Blues and has wished the team luck for the next campaign.
The Spaniard was supposed to leave during this year’s winter transfer window but the club officials convinced him to stay at least until the end of this season. The bosses then offered him a one-year extension but reduced his wages
from seven million to four million Euro which possibly prompted http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 to take this decision.
While talking during the pre-match press conference, the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 international further added:
"I have made a decision about my future, and will not stay at Schalke. It has been a really tough decision. I'd like to thank the club, the president and the manager for their patience. This decision is the right one for me. My
future doesn't lie in Europe.”
On the other hand, Raul mused that he might have stayed at the club if there were no family issues. He claimed that he is still fit enough to play in one of the top leagues in Europe but clarified that he is not been able to give
enough time to his family and therefore would either play somewhere in the Middle East or http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/United-States-c3034.
"My decision is based on several factors. I'm still confident enough to play in a top league, but I can't foresee the future. The key factor is my family. In the Bundesliga you don't have much time with your family,” Raul concluded.
The attacker signed for the Gelsenkirchen outfit in 2010 and so far has 27 league goals under his belt from 64 appearances. His contract will expire this summer after which he will be available on a free transfer. However, Raul’s
agent has ruled out his client’s proposed move to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Qatar-c2986.
