Raul Ibanez leads New York Yankees to a famous win against Baltimore Orioles – MLB Update
New York Yankees’ outfielder Raul Ibanez had an excellent game against the Baltimore Orioles. The right hander dispatched the second pitch he saw over the wall for a home-run to tie the game for the Yankees. In Game 4 on Thursday, at least for one night,
the Yankees will not have to play for their season at Yankee Stadium in New York.
But do not write off the Orioles just yet. Throughout the season, they have shown us that they have the ability to bounce back in pressure situations. They have chased the Yankees across the end of the summer and into the post season.
Ibanez was destined to be the hero on Wednesday evening. After hitting a home-run in the ninth, he smacked his second home-run of the game against Orioles’ relief pitcher Brian Matusz to snatch victory for his team from the jaws of defeat. The solo home-run
in the 12th inning stunned the Orioles, who seemed to be going 2-1 up in the series.
''I asked who was hitting, and it was Alex, so I assumed something was going on,'' Ibanez said. ''I didn't know what was happening, and then I just tried to put it behind me and get a good pitch to hit.''
''I'm a very blessed man. I have a healthy baby boy and my wife is healthy, my children are healthy,'' Ibanez said. ''And then getting an opportunity to play for this great team, great franchise, and being in that situation and having it work out that way
is a great blessing.''
Orioles tried their best to keep Ibanez quiet but the night belonged to him. Buck Showalter and company could not do anything to stop him from putting the Yankees 2-1 ahead.
With home conditions working in their favour, New York now has an excellent chance to finish off the Orioles in Game 4 but Showalter and his men should not be under estimated.
Ibanez who came in as a replacement for Alex Rodriguez has certainly impressed the skipper on his very appearance and surely, he will be looking to continue his impressive form to cement his place on Yankees’ playoff roster.
