The president of Rayo Vallecano, Raul Martin Presa, has come out and strongly criticized the fans of the club after some of them carried offensive banners and protested against the team.
A small minority of the fans protested against the team and carried banners during Vallecano’s 2-0 loss at the hands of Real Zaragoza on Monday night.
The man who is at the helm of Rayo Vallecano stated that the club’s boss, Paco Jemez, was angry because of the unusual environment that existed during the match and he agrees with him on this particular matter.
“My Coach [http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Paco-c29025 Jemez] is angry because there was an unusual environment,” he told AS. “And I agree with him."
Martin thanked the Vallecano faithful for coming to the stadium. However, he also believes that there is a time for the fans to show their anger and frustration with the team. He urges the supporters to vent their anger at a proper time but not during the
game.
“We want to thank the fans for coming to the stadium, but the time to protest is before or after the game, not during it.”
The president also made it clear that this incident is not an excuse for the team’s loss. He specified that few of the banners carried by the fans were offensive and made the players upset.
“It is not an excuse for the defeat, but there was an unusual environment in the stadium – there were several banners, which like it or not, do put the players off.”
Finally, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Raul-c30652 Martin understands the right of the fans to protest; however, he doesn’t want that to harm the solidarity of the team. He feels the fans should express their anger in a healthy manner.
“Everyone has the right to protest, but I don't want that to harm the team.”
This is Rayo Vallecano’s first back-to-back defeat since September. They have now slipped to the bottom-half of the table and are sitting on the 13th position in the Primera Division.
Next match in the Primera Division, Vallecano will travel to the Mestalla stadium and face off Ernesto Valverde’s men.
