Ravelo’s Boy arrived for the Belmont Stakes from Calder
Korina Stable owned 3-year-old colt,Ravelo’s Boy, will surely be a long shot in the Grade 1, $1 million Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park on 9 June, 2012, as he arrived at the Big Sandy on the morning of 5 June after a 23-hour van ride from his base in Calder
Race Course in Florida.
The Stakes barns were open for the Belmont Stakes contenders on 5 June, and Ravelo’s Boy made stall no 2 his own, but not before stretching his legs after a long van ride as he walked in the shedrow before bedding.
Trainer Manuel J. Azpurua’s assistants Roberto Riasco and Enrique Barcenas accompanied the colt on his trip.
"He had to walk. It's a long trip," Barcenas said. "He behaved real nice. There was a lot of rain and a lot of wind on the drive but no problems. Everything was fine."

The son of Lawyer Ron has never raced outside of Florida, and this will be his first time, but the colt is not lightly raced at all as the Belmont Stakes will be his 14th career start. Ravelo’s Boy has primarily raced at Calder Race Course, and twice
at Gulfstream Park and Tampa Bay Downs.
His last two starts came at Tampa Bay Downs, and his exiting a fifth place finish in a field of eleven runners in the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby to winner, Prospective by 6 ¾ lengths.
The Tampa Bay Derby was run on 10 March, 2012, which has given Ravelo’s Boy ample time to rest and train for the Belmont Stakes.
"He's a nice horse. Wherever you ask him to run, he will run," Barcenas said. "He will do something good in this race. We're very proud to be here.
"We came to win the race. If we can't win the race and we come in second or third, we'll be very happy. But we came all the way from Florida for the race, and the horse is doing real good."
Azpurua has assigned jockey Alex Solis to ride Ravelo’s Boy in the Belmont Stakes, who will be running his sixth Belmont Stakes race.
