Ravens’ Ray Rice says he will play against Steelers
The Baltimore Ravens received have some good news. Star running back Ray Rice will indeed play against the Pittsburgh Steelers this Sunday in a huge divisional game. Rice hurt his knee last week in the Ravens’ 24-17 win over the Cleveland Browns. MRIs showed
no structural damage in his knee and he says he feels good.
"Once you hear the good news of nothing being torn and it's just a bruise, I felt great," Rice said. "It's just getting better each day. I'm just going out there working because I know it's just a bruise. I got a second opinion, got everything I needed to
do. Once you find out it's just a bruise, you've got new life again."
The Ravens have a solid running back corps with Rice, Willis McGahee and Le’Ron McClain, but Rice is their most dynamic back and their most dangerous one. Against one of the best defences in the league, the Ravens will need all of their weapons to pull out
the win.
"We have a great corps of backs, but I'm sure I'll be ready to play," Rice said.
This is a huge divisional game for both teams as the Steelers have a chance to go 4-0, but it will have to be without Ben Roethlisberger (he'll be back for their next game). Meanwhile, The Ravens will try to be the first team to take advantage of Roethlisberger’s
absence and tie Pittsburgh for the division lead at 3-1.
While Rice is going up against a physical defence, he feels that the Steelers will respect his injury and not try to exploit it. While his knee is hurt, he doesn’t think the Steelers will stoop to that level.
"I don't think they're dirty...I don't think anybody has the intent to go out there and hurt anybody. I have respect for them and they have respect for us. I don't think it's going to be one of those situations where they're going to take a blatant shot
at the knee."
The Ravens have had their problems with the Steelers. Quarterback Joe Flacco is only 1-4 in his career against the Steelers (including the playoffs). The only time Flacco has beaten the Steelers was last year when Ben Roethlisberger was out with injury.
The Ravens will hope to duplicate that and get the big win on the road this Sunday.
