Ravens aim to stay atop AFC north as they play Colts in Week 14 – NFL Preview
Baltimore Ravens will be looking to extend their lead to 10-3 to stay atop tied with their archrivals Pittsburgh Steelers in the American Football Conference (AFC) north division when they host the winless Indianapolis Colts in
Baltimore this Sunday.
Ravens have won nine out of the 12 games they played this season. They have won all six home games. Their three road victories equal their road losses which are also three.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have played 13 games and their win over the Cleveland Browns on past Thursday night stretched their lead to 10-3 in the division.
The Baltimore Ravens trailed behind them at 9-3 after having played 12 games. This will be their 13th game and in case they win they will be tied with the Steelers at 10-3. The Ravens however hold the tiebreaker advantage over
the Steelers after having beaten them twice this season.
The Houston Texans and New England Patriots are two other teams with similar scores on the points table. The ravens also hold the tiebreaker over the Texans who are expected to win the AFC south title with a possible win over Cincinnati
Bengals this Sunday.
Both the Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers will have three more games to go after this Sunday to finish off their current regular seasons, before playoffs. The Ravens who have developed a reputation of pulling off wins against
some good opponents are well in race for AFC north title.
Despite that, all odds are in Baltimore Ravens’ favour for win over the Colts, an upset from the Colts can dislodge them off the track in their race for AFC north title. Their linebacker Terrell Suggs has warned them against complacency
saying that the Colts were a professional side and capable of staging a turnaround.
"This is the NFL and they're professionals," Suggs said. "We're expecting them to light up and come up in here and play. They're just as big a threat to us as if we were playing anybody else."
The Ravens hold a 100% win record at home this season and keeping in view this performance they are projected to inflict a defeat on their visitors the Colts.
The Colts in the meantime will be looking for a must win to end their 12 consecutive games losing streak.
They have played six games each at home and on road losing all of them. They are rated at the bottom of National Football League (NFL) current season. In case of a loss to Ravens they will be down to 0-13.
The side however had shown some resistance in their last game in New England with Dan Orlovsky at quarterback position for the first time. It is expected that he might show further resilience in the coming game.
"If you look at statistical categories, (Baltimore) is near the top in every one. They do a tremendous job on defence," Indianapolis coach Jim Caldwell said. "This week is going to be another challenge (for Orlovsky). It's going
to be a bit more complicated. Once again, we can't put it all on his shoulders. We've got to be able to give him some help."
Without a win the Colts do not stand a chance to finish off with their humiliating 12-game losing streak.
