Ravens hope for Ray Lewis’ return for next game – NFL News
Baltimore Ravens have set hopes for return of their defensive leader Ray Lewis for their game against the Cleveland Browns this Sunday.
Lewis, Ravens’ middle linebacker, has been rested for more than two weeks because of his injury. He had suffered a toe injury about two weeks ago and has not played any game or taken part in practice since.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said that he hoped that the player was likely to stage a return in their next game against the Cleveland Browns, on the coming Sunday.
"The rest part is big," Coach John Harbaugh said Monday. "I'm hopeful. I think he's got a real good chance (to play Sunday). We'll just have to see how it goes.
He however did not give any assurance, probably not finding any point to make any assurances for his return during their next game.
"Ray is probably the guy that's the furthest away (from returning), if you're looking at all the guys," Harbaugh told the team's official website. "But then again, you never know. Ray has a sprained toe, a turf toe kind of thing,
so those are a little more unpredictable."
The Ravens have managed to win two games consecutively without Ray Lewis in past two weeks. Despite that they continued to face issue at their defence position they managed to overcome their close rivals Cincinnati Bengals 31-24
in the week before last week.
Their historical and remarkable win however came against John Harbaugh's own brother Jim Harbaugh in the San Francisco 49ers game on Thanksgiving Day during past week.
Ravens linebacker Jarret Johnson has described them as their huge wins in five days. He said that it was tough to achieve that mark but they had played really good. Their game against the Niners was really good, he said, adding
that the Ravens wanted to move on to make it their ninth win in American Football Conference (AFC) north division.
The Baltimore Ravens are sharing north division lead 8-3 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. They however have an advantage of beating the Pittsburgh Steelers twice in current National Football League (NFL) season twice. Both teams are
closely chased by the Cincinnati Bengals.
