Ravens’ linebacker Ray Lewis hopes to return for Sunday game – NFL News
Having missed four consecutive games due to a toe injury Baltimore Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis finally hopes to return to his side most probably in their next game against San Diego Chargers this Sunday.
Lewis who joined his side for practice on Wednesday did not confirm if he will be playing for the Ravens in the game against the Chargers this weekend but said that he was confident to stage a comeback at some point this season.
"Whenever it's time for me get back on the field, I'm definitely going to get back on there," Lewis said.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh however confirmed the reports in The Sun newspaper earlier this week that Lewis will come back to play for them against the Chargers. Harbaugh said that he was “very hopeful” about his return for the
Sunday game.
Lewis said that he was desperate to get back to play but a final decision will be made by the coaches. "I'm feeling way better," Lewis was quoted as saying by the Baltimore Sun. "Way better. I thought I had a good chance the last
four weeks to play, but the coaches are going to make those decisions. They're just being smart. I don't mind being smart. The warrior side of me of course is always going to want to get back out there."
The Baltimore Ravens have left three more games to play this season, and all of them are very important for them given the reasons that they are tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers atop the American Football Conference (AFC) north
division.
10-3 in the season, the Ravens need to win all of their remaining games to keep their chances for the divisional title and playoff berth alive. The return of the Ray Lewis is expected to boost the side increasing their hopes for
wins in rest of their games.
The player was injured four weeks ago and has not played a single game or practiced since then. He joined Ravens squad for practice for first time on Wednesday. He played upto full strength apparently not being bothered by his
injured toe.  He is also expected to take part in the team’s more practice on Friday and return for Sunday night game.
