Ravens stay atop AFC North with a win over Colts in Week 14 – NFL Recap
It was a ruthless show of power from Baltimore Ravens defence to help his side force a 24-10 defeat on the winless Indianapolis Colts on past Sunday extending their (Colts) losing streak to 0-13 in current regular season of American
professional football league, National Football League.
Ravens second pick defence man Terrell Suggs, after their leading star Ray Lewis, seemed to have gone out on the field to harass Colts quarterbacks. He had forced three fumbles and three sacks respectively as the Colts could not
find a way through to end zone.
"Right now I think we're all just doing our part holding the levee until the general gets back," Suggs said. "That's why I honestly think we're playing the way we are." He was referring to Ray Lewis who is out due to his toe injury.
The Colts were kept limited to only 167 yards by Ravens defence. This included 53 yards in three quarters.
Suggs described the situation as: "It's chaos out there. A lot is going on more than you see. It's like 'The Matrix' out there with a little bit of 'Inception'. It's a little bit crazy."
On the contrary it had taken only five minutes for the Ravens to take the lead that lasted till finish of the game. It started with a six-play drive from Joe Flacco with an eight yards touchdown pass to Torrey Smith.
Their second move came with a 66 yards on 13 plays. It ended with a 36 yards field goal from Billy Cundiff. This extended Ravens lead to 10-0.
Their rest of three quarters were equally good. Joe Flacco helped them increase their final score to 24 while Suggs on the other hand kept Colts defence in their own zone.
It was again poor show off by the Indianapolis Colts which forced them into further misery without their key player Peyton Manning.
It is pertinent to note that how much difference their quarterback Peyton Manning had made to their side that they with Manning in their squad had inflicted eight consecutive defeats on the Baltimore Ravens.
This was their first loss without Manning playing for them. He has not played a single game this season for the Colts due to his neck injury. His absence has left his team nowhere with losing all of 13 games they have played this
year.
The win has helped the Ravens 10-3 to stay tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers atop the American Football Conference (AFC) north division. Both teams have three more games to play to finish off this season. The Ravens are tiebreakers
in the division.
