Ravi Bopara disappointed over not being selected

He was highly optimistic to be selected in place of http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Eoin-Joseph-Gerard-Morgan-c56032, following his decision of rejecting the IPL for the sake of County cricket.
However, the selectors went for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Morgan-c77707, because he smashed 193 runs and Bopara failed to impress in the warm-up match against the tourists.
Bopara was not picked up in the IPL auction initially and he turned down an offer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Rajasthan-c837 Royals later on. He preferred playing County cricket over the IPL in order to strengthen his chances for selection in England’s Test squad.
"I was watching the Test and thinking 'I'd love to be a part of that'", Bopara told BBC Radio 5 Live. "I was under the impression that whoever was scoring the runs would get selected but that probably wasn't the case," echoed
a disappointed Bopara.
"I was told I'd have to do something exceptional to take his [Morgan's] spot, "Bopara said."I'm not sure what that is; maybe score a few more hundreds."
Bopara believed that giving up IPL for playing County would have proved his dedication to his national side and his passion for Test Cricket.
The Right-handed batsman has played only 10 Test matches and scored 502 runs with an average of 33.46. He has smashed three hundreds for his team with a high score of 143.
His stint for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 has been quite productive as well. He has scored 417 runs and a couple of centuries in the division two County Championship.
Morgan, who made the spot instead of Bopara, was not a favourite for selection prior to his 193-run knock in the warm-up match for England http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Lions-c808.
Bopara on the other hand, was disenchanted for not being rewarded for his consistent domestic performance.
In England’s dramatic triumph at Cardiff, Morgan did not contribute a lot but maintained his spot in the team for the Lord’s Test.
