Ravi Bopara to play first class cricket in South Africa
England batsman Ravi Bopara will join Kevin Pietersen in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 to play some first class cricket with the Dolphins in a bid to regain form before the start of the next season. Bopara, who was not
named in the English Ashes team, and the performance squad that will be based in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Australia-c746 will look to get some runs under his belt to get his confidence back.
Bopara had met up with the selectors and decided to play some cricket rather than be a part of the Performance Squad and not be a part of any real action. Last year, Bopara was signed up by http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Auckland-c766 in their
T20 squad. Bopara will play a couple of four-day fixtures in South Africa followed by the domestic one-day series that will be played from the last week of October to 10 December.
The chief selector of the English team, Geoff Miller said that Bopara was happier playing some cricket in South Africa than being a part of the Performance Squad. Miller also added that they had a talk with
Bopara’s coach at http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783 and decided on sending him to South Africa.
Bopara will play for KwaZulu-Natal, and was welcomed by Jesse Chellan, the chief executive of the side. Chellan said that the team wanted to add value to their performances whilst helping Bopara prepare for
the ODI leg of the English tour of Australia.
Bopara was given his chances in both, the Test matches and the ODIs, but he has failed to grasp his opportunities. He played in four Ashes Test matches last year but was miserable with the bat and was dropped
in the fifth. In the ODIs, he has been in and out of the team, but in his latest association with the side, he got three chances to bat against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 but scored only 58 runs. He was then dropped from the side and Luke Wright took his place.
Pietersen will feature for the Dolphins in a couple of first class games before joining the English team for the Ashes.
