Ravi Bopara wants to make a name for himself in Test cricket – Cricket News
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RS-Bopara-c2373, the England batsman, is happy to be playing international cricket for his country but he is not entirely satisfied with his career and wants to cement his place in the Test team once again.
The 28-year-old cricketer does not want to be remembered as a limited-overs specialist and like most other international players, Bopara feels that Test cricket is the pinnacle of the sport.
"I'm happy with my career, but far from satisfied. There's a lot more to my game than simply the one day stuff. There wouldn't be much point as far as I'm concerned if I wasn't still aiming to play Test cricket for England again,”
said the cricketer from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Essex-c783.
Bopara made his international debut in 2007 and since then he has been in and out of the England squad. The right-hander played his first Test a year later and enjoyed some success in the longer format of the game before going
through a run of poor form, which led to his exclusion from the side in 2009, with http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 last year but he failed to grab the opportunity.
However, the middle-order batsman has shown good form in the limited-overs series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 Champions Trophy 2013. Having done well, Bopara understands that he has enhanced his chances of returning
to the Test team.
Bopara has learned his lesson that no place in the English team can be taken for granted and one must perform consistently at the highest stage of the game.
He added, "I know I'm still in the selector's minds and as I proved in scoring those centuries and then getting dropped, no position in the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c749 team is nailed down. Anything can happen. Look at my very good friend Trotty. He
took my place and has never looked back.”
The right-handed batsman has so far represented the Poms in 13 Tests, 89 One Day Internationals (ODI) and 24 T20 Internationals, having scored more than three thousand runs with the help of three centuries and 12 half-centuries.
Apart from that, Bopara is more than useful with his medium-pace bowling.
