Ravi Rampaul in contention for third Test – Cricket News Update
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Fidel-Henderson-Edwards-c57010, picked up a back injury in a rain-hit second Test, which ended in a draw.
Rampaul has been the spearhead of the Windies’ attack for the past 12 months before injury (shoulder) and dengue fever forced him to miss the limited-overs leg of their home series against the Kangaroos. He returned for the longer version bouts but, having played little competitive cricket, was remained out of contention for the opening two games.
Following the conclusion of the second Test, skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DJG-Sammy-c1382 revealed that Fidel is suffering from a backache and is struggling to be fit for the final game of the series, scheduled to begin from April 23 at Windsor Park, Roseau, Dominica.
"So far we've been using the same combination and it's worked for us," Sammy said. "Fidel has a slight pain in his back so we'll monitor that. If not then Ravi comes in and I know http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RD-Shah-c2298 will do the job for us."
The Windies’ outfit currently trail by a 1-0 margin, following the loss suffered in the first match at Bridgetown. However, the national team’s performances have been on the rise, which includes good showings in the ODI and T20 series – both of which ended in pulsating draws.
They also made a excellent start in the first Test, scoring 449 in the opening innings before a batting collapse in the second allowed the Aussies to claim ascendency, and take the game by a narrow three-wicket margin.
The hosts still have plenty to play for and are eager for a share of the spoils, provided they perform well in the final outing of the series. Sammy is confident that his team can topple the Australians, and is banking on Rampaul to do the job for his side.
"To have a guy like Ravi Rampaul, who took so many wickets for last year on the bench shows we have depth. Kemar has been very good against the Australians and Fidel has been bowling well, without any luck, and I know Ravi is eager for his opportunity," added Sammy.
