http://www.senore.com/Cricket/RD-Shah-c2298 Shastri, the former Indian cricketer and current commentator, has slammed the former English cricketer, Michael Vaughan, for his comments suggesting that V.V.S Laxman might have used vaselline to avoid the Hot-Spot, during the second Test match at Trent
Bridge.
Vaughan tweeted this comments, when a caught-behind appeal against Laxman was neither supported by the umpire nor by the Decision Review System.
"Michael Vaughan must have used it himself, that is why he is suggesting that Laxman must have used vaseline on his bat. http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013 cannot stomach the fact that Indians are world champions," added Shastri.
During India’s batting innings in the second Test, Laxman did great for his side as he hit 10 boundaries and ended his innings at 54 off 112 balls. The tourists, on the opening day of the second Test match, came back with greater strength, and while bowling
first, they restricted the hosts to a below par total of 221 runs.
The Indians have been opposing the Decision Review System since its introduction, and continue to criticise it even after International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Hong-Kong-c2919, made it a compulsion in One-Day Internationals
as well as in Tests.
In the ongoing series, due to India’s strong opposition, the technology is not being used for lbw decisions.
“BCCI is right in saying that DRS is not 100 per cent accurate. This series has shown that Hot-Spot isn't accurate,” added Shastri.
Vaughan was not only criticised by Ravi, but the former Indian cricketers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Sourav-Chandidas-Ganguly-c90746 also hit back at him for raising the vaseline controvers, terming his remarks as ridiculous. They also said that the comments were made to start a
psychological game against the Indian cricketers.
"It's ridiculous to suggest for someone who has played international cricket. To say so about Indian players and more so about VVS Laxman is absurd," Ganguly criticised.
Currently, England are leading the second Test by 374 runs, with four wickets remaining, and the hosts will resume their inning from 441 for the loss of six wickets.
