http://www.senore.com/Cricket/R-Ashwin-c2228 critical of Wankhede wicket – Cricket News Update
The emerging Indian off-spinner, Ravichandran Ashwin, has been disappointed by the pace and bounce offered by the Wankhede pitch during the ongoing third and the last Test of the three-match series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820, since November 22,
2011.
The 25-year-old Chennai offspinner told the media reporters on Wednesday that he felt cheated while bowling at the Wankhede strip as it did not offer the bounce according to his expectations.
"You can't really expect the wicket to turn on the first day, but, yes, bounce is something that I will always be looking for which was not happening in the last two games,” said the right-arm off spinner while talking to the media reporters at the post
day press conference.
"This game I definitely expected the bounce and I felt cheated in that regard," he added further.
The formidable Indian attack struggled against the West Indies top order as the tourists, after opting to bat, went on to pile up a mammoth 575 for 9 in the first two days of the inconsequential Mumbai Test. Five of the West Indies' top six batsmen notched
half centuries, with belligerent http://www.senore.com/Cricket/DM-Bravo-c1386 scoring a valiant 166, his second successive century in two games.
The http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Tamil-Nadu-c853 spinner, who had compiled an impressive tally of 17 wickets during his maiden Test series against Windies in Caribbean earlier this year, said that he has been playing at the venue in the past as well but he was surprised to see how it behaved
in the past two days.
"It's the eighth game I am playing at the Wankhede and it's the first time I'm seeing a wicket like this in Mumbai,” said Ashwin, who has been preferred by the BCCI selectors over struggling http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Harbhajan-Singh-c61453.
"I don't quite know what to extract from this wicket, as there is none to extract at the moment, probably on the final day," he said.
Ashwin insisted that despite giving his best in the ongoing match he has not yet been rewarded duly by the wicket. He urged that wickets with good pace and bounce are necessary to boost the confidence of bowlers.
