Ray Allen all set to meet with officials from Miami Heat and Los Angeles Clippers – NBA Update
According to several league sources, free agent Ray Allen will be visiting the current NBA Champions Miami Heat on Thursday in order to discuss his future and has plans to go over to Los Angeles Clippers on Friday.
Miami have been involved in hot pursuit of Allen ever since free agency started. They are not offering him much money but are giving him a chance to join a championship calibre team, a deal which is worth considering.
It has been reported that Miami are willing to offer Allen their mini-mid level exception of $3 million, annually. However, they are not the only team to consider, with plenty of other lucrative offers on the table for Allen.
The best offer available at the moment is from his current team, Boston Celtics, who are willing to offer him a contract worth $12 million for two seasons.
But with Allen deciding to consider other options, the Celtics are in a tricky situation.
"I don't know,” Doc Rivers (Celtics coach) said. "We're working hard. He has a lot of options and that's the bad news for us. It'll be interesting. I wish I had a feel on it. Usually I do. But I can tell you in this one I don't."
There is no doubt that Allen values this Boston team, however with their decision to push him into a reserve role deep in the season has apparently forced him to consider other options for his future.
The guard has been a prolific shooter from long range throughout his career and is ranked number 1 in NBA`s all time lists for most three pointers made. He is a master at stretching the court for offense and if he joins a team
like Miami Heat, one could only help imagine the extra freedom LeBron James, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh will find.
Other interesting offers to Allen include the full mid level exception worth $5 million from the Memphis Grizzlies and Clips. These are not the only teams that have been looking to lure in Allen. According to several sources, Allen
has drawn interest from Minnesota Timberwolves, Atlanta Hawks and Dallas Mavericks as well.
