Ray Allen believes a complete NBA season wipe out will not affect the Boston Celtics Big Three
An outstretched National Basketball Association Lockout resulting in a complete season wipe out might put a damper on a team like Boston Celtics, who with their veteran cast will be looking to make a last run for the championship
title.
The reason is the aging big three – Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen - on the roster, on whom the whole team depends on. If the lockout takes one valuable year from the Celts triple ripple, who are already on their last
legs, their chances of getting their hand on the Larry O’Brien trophy any time soon will fade away drastically. However, the most aged player among the superstar trio, Ray Allen thinks otherwise.
Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen are in the finals phases of their careers and at this point, it’s essential for them to stay in shape. This can only happen if they continue the action on the court with their professional
team trainers. However, according to the 36 year old Allen, Boston Celtics’ trio will be well prepared to carry the team even if the lockout disrupts the 2011-2012 season entirely.
“I don’t think so. They’re not going to send us away because possibly we miss a season. We’re not going to say we’re done and we’re not going to play anymore. I still have a lot left in me and I’m sure that Kevin feels the same.
At this stage of the game I’m sure he’s rejuvenated and he’ll be ready to go.” Allen said.
In fact, ten times NBA All-Star Ray believes that a season off might revitalize the team who failed to keep up against the Miami Heat in the Eastern Conference semi-Finals.
“We’re competitors. When you lose a season like that, you come back and you’re ready to get after it. It will fuel our fire, and enable us to go after it a little more next year.”
Ray Allen, who became the all-time leader in three-pointers after breaking Reggie miller’s record during the last season, is definitely not sold to the idea that a complete season wipe out will bring an end or hamper the performances
of the superstar trio.
There is another factor that might break apart Boston Celtics big three. Ray Allen and Kevin Garnett have one year left in their contracts and there is a possibility that Celtics may consider other options to bring the team back
on the track after an abysmal end in the play-offs. However the sharp-shooter Allen is optimistic about the extension as well and expects to play with the team once again.
Although Pierce, Allen and Garnett have been spearheading Boston dominantly since past four seasons and in the process won an NBA title as well however only time will decide that whether the big three can win it all once again
for the team after the lockout.
