Ray Allen scheduled to undergo an ankle Surgery on Wednesday – NBA News
Boston Celtics veteran guard Ray Allen is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right ankle on Wednesday morning, according to a source. The surgery will come as a relief to Allen, who has been battling with his
ankle injury throughout the playoffs. The injury forced Allen to miss 15 games in the regular season and although he missed only two games in the post season, he was only a shadow of his brilliant self.
Avery Bradley took over Allen’s position in the starting lineup in his absence, and continued playing in that position even after Allen’s return. Allen got back his starting position when Bradley himself suffered
a shoulder injury that sidelined him for the rest of the season.
Allen’s injury saw him lose pace coming off the screen and was unable to score jump shots. He seemed as if he was fighting with his body on the court, which affected his jump shot as well as his quickness. Allen
also shot a career postseason worst 71.1% from the foul line. He is usually a very consistent free throws shooter. Allen did eventually find his rhythm in the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat.
“That’s my first priority, just going into surgery sometime. If I (could) do it tomorrow, I would do it tomorrow. That’s probably my main concern right now, is taking care of that. My body feels good. That’s
been my only issue. After that, it’s hard to say,” said Allen on Saturday.
Allen is all set to hit the free agency on July 1st and has yet to decide about his future. Neither he nor the Boston Celtics have made any comments about a new contract.

There were rumours at the end of the season that Allen was not happy in the Celtics camp, particularly after losing his starting position to Avery Bradley.

When asked about what the future holds for him and his veteran teammates, Allen said:
“There’s still a lot of basketball left in my legs. I know that for sure. So it’s hard to say what can happen, what may happen. But the four of us know how to play basketball. We know how to win games.”
