Ray Jennings hopes Zaheer Khan will bounce back soon
Ray Jennings, the Royal Challengers Bangalore’s cricket coach said on Tuesday, 26 April, 2011, that their star pacer Zaheer Khan is expected to regain his form in the impending matches of the ongoing Indian Premier League’s 4th season.
The coach admitted that the bowler’s performance has been going downhill in the tournament, however, he was certain that the seamer will prove his mettle in the upcoming fixtures.
“Zaheer’s form is definitely a matter of concern for us but he is a top bowler and would return to form very soon,” Jennings assured.
After performing brilliantly in the ICC World Cup 2011 the pace spearhead has been going through a rough patch in the ongoing IPL. Jennings agreed that Zaheer is unpredictable but praised him, saying that he possesses match winning capabilities.
“Zaheer's form is a concern but he is unpredictable. He is a kind of player who can come and pick up four five wickets. He is a match-winner and his form is the biggest motivation for his comeback,” Jennings stated.
Skipper Daniel Vettori seconded Jennings’ views, saying that Zaheer is an indispensable player and remains a vital member for the Royal Challengers Bangalore despite the slump in his form recently.
Vettori added that he and Zaheer need to step up their game in the next fixtures, being the key bowlers for their side.
"On the day, you need one of your bowlers to step up. It's important that Zaheer and myself start well because we are the key bowlers," claimed Daniel Vettori.
