Ray "Boom Boom" Mancini vs Vinny Pazienza. Who wins?

Great match up guy. I fought on the same team as Ray Mancini at the USA golden gloves championships in Bollix Mississippi 1978. Vinny is my top fighter as far as heart goes and Ray Mancini is all heart in a 15 round fight Ray wears down Vinny and stops him in the 13th round but before the stoppage Vinny gives Ray a boxing lesson Vinny is faster and he moves well on his feet two things Ray is not but Ray would keep on coming. When Ray and I were armatures he never won a national championship he was to slow there were a couple of guys who could beat ray every day of the week one being Anthony Fletcher beat Ray like a drum the fights were not close. But Ray was meant to be a pro fighter where he could slow walk you down I love this match up and you made me go against one of my favourite fighters I don,t feel well I think I will go and lat down.

IMO, Ray was twice the fighter as Vinny. Sorry, but Ray came to fight, while Vinny had a tendency to dance around posing, before going in for a brief exchange. Ray knew how this game was played and how to win at it. Both guys get hit, but Ray wins, again IMO.

Mancini by KO inside of 5. Towards the end of Pazienza's career he was trained by Kevin Rooney, who made him a little tougher to hit. His defense improved. I think he'd still lose to Mancini but it might take a little longer.

Ray Mancini was a great guy and a fan favorite, but so long as you avoided standing and trading with Ray he could be out boxed.  Pazienza's movement would have given Ray trouble, and I think Vinnie would have eventually done enough to decision Mancini, Paz was the bigger man and Vinnie's chin would have kept him in it to the end, I don't think Mancini would have been able to KO Paz.

Vinnie by close decision.

People are underestimating Vinny Pazienza. He was pretty tough. I still think Ray Mancini will win but it will be a tough fight to the end. I give Ray an edge in punching power but Vinny is harder to hit, Ray was easy to hit.

I'm gonna go against the grain and pick Pazienza by close decision. I think that is a GREAT match up.

I just Pazienza was more willing to step back and box when the time called for it.
