Raymond Darmawan stuns Eric Chan in Men’s Singles showdown at Ede Clendinnen Shield Sydney
Raymond Darmawan, a representative of Western Australia (WA), proved his mettle on court as he played remarkable badminton in Men’s Singles showdown and toppled Queensland Titan’s Eric Chan at the 2012 Ede Clendinnen Shield Sydney on Tuesday, August 28,
in Australia.
The lofty Raymond, who remained consistent in his winning performance on court throughout the competition, continued putting up gutsy show of top class badminton and he easily tamed Eric in an emphatic fashion.
The in-form Raymond played in a commanding way as he dictated the pace of rallies and played with confidence in crucial situation which helped him to defeat his rival in straight sets in just 28 minutes with a convincing score on the board.
On the other hand, Eric played competitive badminton in opening set while remaining positive and focused but he could not put up strong show in the ending points and lost the opening set. He dropped the second game easily and lost the match with a reasonable
margin.
In the first set, both shuttlers started to play positive and aggressive badminton from opening points and no one could set up a comfortable lead at the initial stage.
They put up wonderful performance and remained close on score board until the end of opening part.
After the mid-game interval, Raymond executed wonderful strokes in net by taking the bird early and forced his rival to remain away from net which helped him to take a small lead.
The spirited Raymond played with control and precision and won the set with a decent 21-19 score on the board.
In the following set, Eric failed to maintain his focus on court as he played quivering badminton and also could not match the speed of his opponent.
In the meanwhile, Raymond showed up his remarkable skills and built a superb gap until the mid-game interval.
In the concluding phase of second set, Raymond in complete control on court and he remained successful in ending up the game with a comfortable score of 21-15.
The passionate Raymond won this entertaining fight in straight sets with a convincing 21-19 and 21-15 score on the board.
