The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899 manager has launched a scathing tirade on many players of the 2010 FIFA World Cup squad whose behaviour was the reason why he exploded at them
Two years after that embarrassing episode in Knysna, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757, former France team manager Raymond Domenech has returned to those events and has called several players of that Les Bleus squad a bunch of imbeciles.
The whole French nation was shocked and embarrassed to find out that their national side had actually gone on a strike in a bid to support http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nicolas-Anelka-c27786 who was sent home for stepping out of the line in front of his manager during France’s forgettable defeat
at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Mexico-c2956 in their second group game.
Domenech spoke about those players involved in the strike on the eve of the publishing of his book named “Tout Seul” (All Alone) in which he had a lot to say to the likes of Franck Ribery, Nicolas Anelka and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Thierry-Henry-c34918.
Domenech says that he had become sick of his players trying to give their opinions and wanted to leave.
“I couldn’t bear to hear everyone giving their opinion on everything. I just wanted to be sick, to cry, to leave.”
What was more embarrassing for the team was the fact that before the strike, hundreds of locals from the town of Knysna gave the French players a rousing reception when they came out of the buss. However, straight after signing autographs, players returned
to the bus and despite Domenech’s insistence, chose not to come out.
Domenech, who was then forced to read a statement on behalf of the players, says that by doing such an unprofessional thing, the French team had brought pain on itself.
"The France team had just crucified itself, in public, live on television," Domenech said. "Maybe the players realized it, maybe they didn't. Anyway, it was too late. The infernal machine had started up and was dragging all of Les Bleus to the abyss."
"I'm out of here. I couldn't give a d**n about this bunch of imbeciles," he says in Tout Seul.
Domenech further revealed in his book that apart from the likes of Djibril Cisse and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Sidney-Govou-c33474 who were truly sorry for the strike, no one gave much thought on the seriousness of the situation.
