Raymond Felton bruises hand during game against Phoenix Suns – NBA News
The New York Knicks starting point guard Raymond Felton has suffered a contusion and a bone bruise in his left hand during the Knicks 106-99 victory over the Phoenix Suns here on Sunday night at the Madison Square Garden. Felton
underwent an MRI late on Sunday night to determine the extent of the injury and has been labelled day to day by the team.
It's swollen right now. It's a lot of pain, but we'll see what happens,” said Felton.
Felton suffered the injury while attempting to split a double team in the final period of the game, which he helped the Knicks win through his amazing performance on the night. He finished with 23 points and seven assists while
going 10 of 17 from the field. Felton said that he did not know when he will be back for the team, but added that he would love to play in the Wednesday night game against the Charlotte Bobcats. He also said that he could play with a bandage if needed.
If Felton is unable to play the next game, the Knicks will have only one point guard who will be healthy and available for the team. Jason Kidd, the veteran point guard of the Knicks acquired this offseason, has missed the past
four games due to back spasms, and is listed day to day by the team. He is expected to be back in one of the upcoming three games of the Knicks. In the absence of both Kidd and Felton, the Knicks will have only Pablo Prigioni to play at the point guard position.
Acquired by the Knicks during the offseason to cover up for the loss of Jeremy Lin, Felton has shined in his new stint with the Knicks and has helped them compile one of the best records in the Eastern Conference. The revival of
the Knicks and their play their this is being attributed to the new system that Head Coach Mike Woodson is running, and Felton is the driving force of that system at the point guard position. He is averaging 14.6 points and 6.7 assists so far this season while
shooting 40.7 percent from three point range.
